Laws and legislation of Kratom in Virginia

Recently, legislators introduced a bill to have the Virginia Board of Pharmacy study Kratom and recommend whether to ban or regulate it. Unfortunately, the bill was tabled in committee. The American Kratom Association hopes to garner support for the regulatory bill in an upcoming session.

Kratom is legal at a federal level, but at a state level, it is up to the individual states to decide on their own individual Kratom laws. While Kratom is currently legal to purchase, possess and sell, a partisan bill VA HJR39 was issued in January 2020 to ban Kratom. Advocacy groups leaped into action to stop this bill, and Kratom remains legal in Virginia.

Purchasing and shipping Kratom in Virginia

In Virginia, Kratom is readily available in vape shops, smoke shops, specialty shops, dispensaries, and gas stations. However, since Kratom is relatively new in the United States, some companies may take that advantage to make money by selling low-quality, substandard, untested and sometimes adulterated products. Therefore, until the FDA or other laws regulate Kratom, it’s essential to research the store and its products. Search the Internet for Kratom suppliers and stores, read Google reviews and look at the company’s longevity and return guarantee. The Kratom community is passionate, and customers are very vocal about the sales, services and quality of different Kratom companies.

The Kratom advocacy group, the American Kratom Association (AKA), sets vendor guidelines, and Kingdom Kratom is one company that adheres to those standards to ensure you get pure, 100 % Kratom products. In addition, the company continues to work to finalize Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to get full certification from the AKA.

At Kingdom Kratom, products are certified as organic, sourced from within Indonesia from verified farmers with whom they have built strong relationships. In addition, all products undergo testing for purity and potency. The team at Kingdom Kratom is passionate about Kratom and eager to field questions from newcomers and devotees alike. Virginia becomes the ninth U.S. State to Legislate Kratom

The American Kratom Association (AKA) is a non-profit advocacy group established in 2014, committed to preserving and protecting the freedom of Kratom or Mitragyna Speciosa. Also, it advocates for regulation to ensure Kratom quality and also for research on the benefits of Kratom. The AKA continues to work tirelessly to have Kratom legal in every state. You can help in that effort by joining the AKA as a “protector” of Kratom. You’ll receive notification of any laws changes and advocacy needed. Join the email list here.

Working in concert with the AKA, the Botanical Education Alliance also dedicates itself to educating consumers, lawmakers, law enforcement, and the media about safe and therapeutic natural supplements, including Kratom. Its mission is to increase understanding to influence public policy and protect natural supplements.

The Kratom Consumer Protection Act is under consideration in more than 20 states. As of 2023, the KPCA has passed in the following states: Utah, Georgia, Arizona, Oregon, Nevada, Colorado, Missouri, and Oklahoma.
