Contrary to popular belief, kratom is hardly a recent trend. Indeed, kratom comes from a tree that grows in Southeast Asia, and it’s been used by local people there for hundreds of years already. Yet, because it’s new to Western markets, it’s understandable that plenty of consumers might not know everything there is to know about this exciting substance. The fact is that there are a number of myths and misconceptions associated with kratom. Today, we aim to clear up at least a little bit of the confusion and tackle a common FAQ, namely, how long does kratom last? The short answer is that the effects of a kratom dosage will last for a few hours. However, there are several variables that can affect that estimate.
The Effects of Kratom
Many people liken kratom to caffeine. Indeed, the primary stimulant-like effects of kratom may include increased energy, decreased appetite, and increased libido. What’s more, kratom has been said to act as a pain reliever, energy booster, a sexual stimulant, as well as a means to reduce anxiety. These are the sort of effects one may expect to experience when taking kratom.
Length of Kratom Effectiveness
As mentioned above, the effects of a kratom dosage typically last between four and eight hours. To expand on that point, other factors may increase or decrease kratom’s potency. Unsurprisingly, the size of the dosage can determine how long a person feels its effects. It’s recommended for first-time users to only take 2-3 grams. Moderate to high dosages range from 5g-15g. The effects of kratom with higher doses may last longer. Note, it’s important to always use kratom responsibly. High doses of kratom may cause some people to feel “wobbly” or dizzy.
Lastly, people who have used kratom for long periods of their lives have been reported to become tolerant to Kratom and require larger doses to experience the same effects during use.
When Do Effects Start?
You can expect to start feeling the effects of kratom after about 30 or so minutes. There are many different ways to take kratom –– by chewing on its leaves, mixing it with beverages, ingesting it, or taking kratom capsules. Also, taking kratom on an empty stomach will typically speed up its effects. Some report feeling the effects of Kratom after 10-15 minutes.
How Long Does Kratom Stay in the System?
The half life of kratom is almost exactly 24 hours. How long kratom will remain in a given person’s system depends on a variety of factors, such as their age, height, weight, body composition, and the size of kratom dosage taken. In general, it’s accepted that kratom will be out of the blood stream within 3-4 days and completely out of a person’s system after a week.
