Kratom Smoothies

Kratom is a tree of the coffee plant family that grows in Southeast Asia. For centuries, the locals have used it to make an herbal remedy that acts as a stimulant to start the day or a relaxing tea to wind down in the evenings. This is due to its alkaloids, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, which interact with the opioid receptors in the brain to cause the desired effects. The vein and strain of kratom determine these alkaloid properties.

Some people, however, don’t enjoy the leafy, bitter taste of kratom. This bitterness is due to the alkaloid content, meaning that the more alkaloids the leaf has, the more bitter it will taste. If you struggle with the taste of kratom, there are various ways to mask it or consume it to make it more palatable, such as in tea

In this article, we’ll look at ways of mixing kratom into smoothies for a more pleasant taste.

How to make a Kratom smoothie

Kratom smoothies are an excellent way to start the day with the vitamins and minerals your body needs. Adding kratom to your smoothies also boosts your energy and focus, much like a strong cup of coffee.

Three kratom smoothies to suit different tastes

  • Green smoothie
  • Chocolate nut butter smoothie
  • Tropical fruit smoothie

Ingredients for green smoothie

  • A leafy green base of choice, such as kale, spinach, or arugula
  • Kratom powder of choice
  • One banana
  • ½ avocado, cubed
  • 1 cup orange juice or water
  • Ice, as blenders tend to heat the liquid slightly

Ingredients for chocolate nut butter smoothie

  • A leafy green base of choice, such as kale, spinach, or arugula
  • Kratom powder of choice (serving size depends on the individual—see dosage guide below)
  • Fruit of choice, such as one banana / ½ cup blueberries / ½ cup strawberries
  • 1 cup milk of choice, such as cow/almond/soy/cashew/coconut
  • One tablespoon of nut butter of choice, such as peanut/almond/cashew/hazelnut
  • 1½ tablespoons cacao
  • One teaspoon cinnamon
  • Ice to keep it cold, as blenders tend to heat the liquid slightly

Ingredients for tropical fruit smoothie

  • A leafy green base of choice, such as kale, spinach, or arugula
  • Kratom powder of choice (serving size depends on the individual—see dosage guide below)
  • 1 cup fruit cubes of choice, such as mango/kiwi/pineapple/papaya/banana
  • 1 cup orange/pineapple juice
  • ½ cup yogurt (optional)
  • Ice to keep it cold, as blenders tend to heat the liquid slightly

Mixing methods for all recipes

  • Place all ingredients in a blender, starting with the leafy greens and follow with the ingredients list.
  • Blend for 40-60 seconds, mix the contents, and blend for another 30 seconds.

Note: If the mixture is too thick, add water until you reach the desired consistency. If you prefer smoothies sweeter, you can also add honey or a sweetener of choice, such as stevia.

Dosage guide

For the above recipes, the portions are based on one person. You can double the recipes for more than one person.

In terms of kratom dosage, you would dose as you usually do when you take kratom. If you’re new to kratom, we recommend starting with a low dosage and increasing it gradually.

  • Microdose: less than 2g—for a mildly energetic effect, use it in place of your morning cup of coffee.
  • Low to medium dose: 2-6g—take for a stimulating, energizing effect.
  • High dose: over 6g—take for a calming and relaxing effect.
  • Heavy dose: over 8g—take for a calming effect. This dose is not recommended for most people.

A rough guide to measuring your dose is that one rounded teaspoon equals 2.5-3.5g, and one rounded tablespoon equals 6-8g. You could also use a scale for accuracy.

Our Kingdom Kratom team of passionate experts can answer your questions about your kratom dosage and which kratom to choose for your smoothie. We also offer kratom sample packs, so you can try a variety to see if one is the best fit for you.
