What is Kratom?
The Kratom tree, also known as Mitragyna speciosa, is a tropical evergreen native to the rain forests of Southeast Asia, specifically Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Kratom trees thrive in this environment due to the hot and humid climate. For centuries, workers in the field have used the leaves of the Kratom tree for medicinal purposes and as a worker’s aid to supply energy and endurance. Kratom leaves contain the two principal alkaloids, Mitragynine and 7-Hydroxymitragynine, the ingredients responsible for the benefits experienced with Kratom. These two alkaloids are found only in Mitragyna speciosa tree.
Kratom trees reach heights of up to 100 feet, with varying sizes of glossy green leaves that bear different stem and vein colors depending on the tree’s origin and the age of the leaves. This color defines the color family of the Kratom leaves. Each color family possesses several Kratom strains, each with a unique alkaloid profile and benefits. Traditionally, fresh or dried Kratom leaves are chewed or made into a tea and seldom smoked. Kratom has stimulant effects at a low dose and is used to combat fatigue during long working hours. At high dosages, however, it can have sedative-narcotic effects.
Laws and Legislation of Kratom in Delaware
Delaware does not regulate or classify Kratom. There is no past or pending legislation in the state either. Therefore, Kratom is entirely legal to possess, purchase, distribute and consume in Delaware.
Where can I buy Kratom in Delaware?
In Delaware, Kratom is readily available in vape shops, smoke shops, specialty shops, dispensaries, and gas stations. However, since Kratom is relatively new in the U.S., some companies may take that advantage to make money by selling low-quality, substandard, untested and sometimes adulterated products. Therefore, until the FDA or other laws regulate Kratom, it’s essential to research the store and its products. Search the Internet for Kratom suppliers and stores, read Google reviews and look at the company’s longevity and return guarantee. The Kratom community is passionate, and customers are very vocal about the sales, services and quality of different Kratom companies.
The Kratom advocacy group, the American Kratom Association (AKA), sets vendor guidelines, and at Kingdom Kratom, we adhere to those standards to ensure you get refined and pure products. In addition, we are working to finalize our Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to get full certification from the AKA.
At Kingdom Kratom, our products are certified as organic, sourced from within Indonesia from verified farmers with whom we have built strong relationships. In addition, we test all our products for purity and potency. Our team at Kingdom Kratom are passionate Kratom experts, and we’re happy to field questions from newcomers and devotees alike. The AKA and Kratom Advocacy in Delaware
The American Kratom Association (AKA) is a non-profit advocacy group established in 2014, committed to preserving and protecting the freedom of Kratom or Mitragyna Speciosa. It advocates for continued regulation to ensure Kratom quality and also for increased research on the benefits of Kratom. The AKA continues to work tirelessly to have Kratom legal in every state. You can help in that effort by joining the AKA as a “protector” of Kratom. By doing so, you’ll receive important notification of legal changes and any advocacy needed. Your help is critical to this effort, and you can join the email list here.
The Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KPCA) is legislation the American Kratom Association introduced in various states. It advocates for Kratom education and research. In addition, it sets legal guidelines for the industry regarding labeling, ingredients, and age restrictions. The Act prohibits the sale of adulterated or misbranded Kratom. When passed, the KCPA creates a certification program for Kratom retailers and manufacturers.
The Kratom Consumer Protection Act is under consideration in more than 20 states, says a spokesperson for the American Kratom Association. The organization hopes Delaware will soon join the eight other states where versions of the legislation have passed as of 2022. The KPCA has passed in Utah, Georgia, Arizona, Oregon, Nevada, Colorado, Missouri and Oklahoma.
